The Microbial Metabolism Engineering Group led by Zhang Xueli, a researcher at the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, has developed a small parallel fermentation equipment. The device has low cost, small volume, convenient operation and can perform multiple fermentation tests at the same time.
The traditional 3~10 liter fermenter has a domestic unit price of 80,000 to 100,000 yuan and an imported price of 200,000 yuan. The small fermenter independently developed by the research group costs about 10,000 yuan, which greatly reduces equipment costs. This small parallel fermentation equipment can be combined with evolutionary metabolism technology to increase the growth and fermentation performance of the strains efficiently and quickly. Using this technology platform, the research team has successfully constructed an E. coli cell factory that efficiently produces alanine and succinic acid.
